WATCH: Scott McLaughlin crashes during Sunday Indy 500 practice

Scott McLaughlin lost control of his yellow No. 3 Pennzoil sponsored machine near the midway point of Sunday’s practice session for top-12 qualifying.

Coming out of turn 2, McLaughlin’s car began to spin before making contact with the outside wall and flipping over. The driver had just placed his car atop the speed chart.

Following McLaughlin’s flip over, there is a gouge in the surface of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Repairs are now underway to fix the track.

McLaughlin is one of 12 drivers who will be competing for the pole of the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500. Last year McLaughlin sat on the pole.
