Swiss Snowboarder Sophie Hediger Dies in Avalanche Tragedy

The Swiss snowboarding community is mourning the loss of Sophie Hediger, a prominent member of Switzerland’s national snowboard cross team, who tragically passed away in an avalanche on Monday at the Arosa ski resort in eastern Switzerland.

The 26-year-old athlete, who represented her country at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, was caught in the avalanche while in Arosa, a resort located west of Davos. The Swiss-Ski federation confirmed her death on Tuesday in a heartfelt statement.
