Justin Allgaier’s weekend started off with a wrecked race car and he would later find himself receiving back-to-back penalties during the Xfinity Series championship race losing a lap before moving to the front of the playoff contenders in the closing laps of Saturday’s race.
Cole Custer’s inability to get around Jesse Love late in the race would prove to be an issue for him as it allowed Allgaier and others back into the playoff picture.
AJ Allmendinger dealt with handling issues throughout the race and was largely a non-factor.
Austin Hill taking two scuffed tires on the final restart as the race clicked into overtime gave him the top spot on the scoring pylon.
Allgaier would pass Hill before the car of Parker Retzlaff spun out with two laps to go sending the race to a second overtime. Allgaier would get around Love before Riley Herbst, who swept the stages, would go onto win the race. Allgaier’s second place finish gives him the Xfinity Series title and car owners championship ahead of the No. 20 which had been driven by Aric Almirola.
