Bubba Wallace finds himself in a battle to make the playoffs. With a fast lap on Saturday the driver of the No. 23 Toyota Camry will start on the pole at Darlington Raceway.
Wallace enters Darlington 21 points out of the final playoff spot. Currently 13 drivers have locked themselves in with a win with Harrison Burton being the most recent. Martin Treux Jr. is 58 above and appears to be a safe bet to move into the opening round while Ty Gibbs (+39) and Chris Buescher (+17) cling to the final two spots. Wallace (-21) and Ross Chastain (-27) are the closest to the bubble.
If anyone outside of the top 16 were to win the race they would immediately move into the playoffs thus moving the bubble line.
