Cole Custer won the Xfinity Series championship race at the 1-mile Phoenix Raceway winning the Xfinity Series title in the process.
Entering the final Xfinity Series race of the season four drivers were eligible for the championship; Justin Allgaier, John Hunter Nemechek, Sam Mayer, and Cole Custer.
Sammy Smith began the race on the pole. Three laps into the event a caution flag came out as Allgaier spun from fifth place while racing another championship hopeful in Nemechek. On the restart the No. 38 of Kyle Sieg would get loose and crash to bring out the second caution.
Nemechek would win the first stage, though being the championship race no points were awarded. Derek Kraus would bring out a caution on lap 86 as the second stage ended with Custer out front.
The four playoff drivers would all be inside the top four when Connor Mosack got into the wall on lap 181. Daniel Hemric would grab the lead during pitstops with the championship drivers behind him. Custer would grab the lead on the restart with Allgaier following right behind. Nemechek would move up to second but with five laps to go Anthony Alfredo would spin to bring out a yellow.
After a wild restart that saw him drop to third for a moment, Custer would manage to get around and then stay ahead of the other championship hopefuls and Sheldon Creed in scoring the race win and the title.
