Richard Childress says Sheldon Creed “stupid” following Martinsville move

Sheldon Creed faced a must win scenario in Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway.

In the final two laps of the race the driver of the No. 2 Chevrolet made multiple moves on teammate Austin Hill ultimately allowing Justin Allgaier to get around both for the race win.

While the win placed Allgaier into the championship round it left both Richard Childress Racing machines out.

Obviously the drivers disagreed on what happened in the closing moments of the race but team owner Richard Childress made his feelings clear.

“I’ve had drivers drive for me before but nobody as stupid as Sheldon Creed,” Childress told NBC Sports as he walked out of Martinsville Speedway after Saturday night’s Xfinity Series race.

“You don’t do that as a team player. What else do you want me to tell you?”

Childress did not respond to questions asking if Creed would be in the car next weekend in the season finale at Phoenix Raceway.

During his post race interview Hill said that Creed would be headed to Joe Gibbs Racing, but a move has not publicly been announced by either side thus far.
