Matt Crafton, Nick Sanchez given penalties following Talladega altercation

On Tuesday NASCAR announced fines for both Matt Crafton and Nick Sanchez for their altercation following the Craftsman Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Crafton was given a $25,000 fine while Sanchez was given a $5,000 fine.

Rene Sanchez, father of Nick, has been suspended for the remainder of the NASCAR season after he was shown throwing punches on video.

The incident occurred after the two had an on track incident late in the Love’s RV Stop 250.

Sanchez has claimed that Crafton hit him with a “cheap shot” and made threats for retaliation at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

NASCAR also gave Chandler Smith a $10,000 penalty for qualifying without a helmet sock.
