Kevin Harvick DQ’d at Talladega for unsecured windshield fasteners

Kevin Harvick narrowly missed out on winning the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday.

Now the No. 4 driver will not be able to take solace in a runner up finish after NASCAR disqualified Harvick during post-race inspection.

The car driven by Harvick finished 0.012 seconds behind race winner Ryan Blaney but was found to be in violation of Sections 14.5.6.2.F and 14.1.E and P; the former states that “windshield fasteners must remain secure for the entire Event,” and the latter section pertains to “Overall Assembled Vehicle Rules.”

Harvick will now be scored as the 38th place finisher allowing everyone else to move up one spot. Additionally Harvick loses the stage points for his eighth place finish in Stage 1 of the race.

Blaney has been confirmed as the race winner.
