Brett Moffitt wins Truck Series race at Talladega, Love’s RV Stop 250 Results

Brett Moffitt won Saturday afternoon’s running of the Love’s RV Stop 250 at Talladega Superspeedway scoring the win in a one-off for Front Row Motorsports.

Chase Purdy began the day on the pole. Nick Sanchez would win the first stage with three other playoff drivers finishing right behind him as drivers looked to move onto the next round with either a win or points.

During the pitstop between stages Zane Smith would slide into his pit and hit the right rear tire carrier causing damage to his truck and sending a tire down pitlane. Smith would eventually find his way to the garage after complaining the truck kept jumping out of gear.

The second stage ended under caution after Christian Eckes and Stewart Friesen made contact. Friesen and Tyler Ankrum would spin up the track hitting the wall while David Gilliland also took damage. Parker Kligerman would lead the field to pit road.

On lap 72 caution would come out after the hood of Jack Wood came loose and came apart. Caution would come out again on lap 85 when Purdy and Colby Howard would get together ending the former’s day. A red flag would come out to clean up fluid from the incident.

Contact between Matt Crafton and Nick Sanchez would set off a chain reaction which would collect numerous trucks running in the middle of the pack.

The race would only need one green white checkered. Eckes would throw a block but get shuffled to the back of the field finishing as the last truck on the lead lap, allowing Moffitt who was only in the race so Zane Smith would have a teammate to score the win.

The race was the second in the round of 8 for the truck series with the final event in the round coming on Oct. 21 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Corey Heim’s win at Bristol Motor Speedway has ensured he will be a part of the championship round at Phoenix Raceway.
