Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is in the NFL’s concussion protocol after following multiple hits in a 23-18 loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday night.
The status of Garoppolo for Week 4 will be in question all week leading up to a contest against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Garoppolo did not leave Sunday night’s game against the Steelers, even after a play which saw his head bounce off the grass late.
“I’m not even sure what hit or if it was just an accumulation of [hits], I have no idea,” McDaniels said. “There was never a conversation about that, so I’m not sure, exactly, and I haven’t seen him yet this morning, so I’m not exactly sure when it took place, or if it was just a culmination of things.”
Though three games Garoppolo leads the NFL with six interceptions as he threw three more on Sunday.
Should Garoppolo be unable to play in Week 4 the Raiders will have to turn to journeyman veteran Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O’Connell.
