AJ Allmendinger made the decision to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America this weekend at the cost of his starting spot in Sunday’s Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway.
The move will see Allmendinger, who is just outside of the playoffs, start at the rear of the field. On Friday driving the No. 10 machine of Kaulig Racing, Allmendinger scored the Xfinity Series pole.
Allmendinger will be joined by Cole Custer on the front row.
The Xfinity Series will run the Road America 180 on Saturday beginning at 3:00 pm ET. NBC and the NBC Sports App will have coverage of the race.
