Cole Custer returns to Cup Series with Rick Ware Racing

Cole Custer will return to the NASCAR Cup Series for three races this season with Rick Ware Racing (RWR).

Custer most recently won the Xfinity Series race on the streets of Chicago. The win was his second of the season and 12th in his career.

From 2020-2022 the No. 41 Cup Series ride belonged to Custer. Custer made 108 starts with Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) scoring a victory, two top-five, and 12 top-10 finishes. Of course before those 108 starts with SHR, Custer made three starts with RWR in 2008.

In fact Custer’s relationship with RWR ended to driving for them at the 2021 event at Circuit of the Americas where he placed seventh.

Now Custer will rejoin RWR for the next three races on the Cup Series schedule beginning with Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“It’s great to be getting back into a Cup car again,” Custer said. “I can’t thank Rick Ware Racing enough for this opportunity. RWR is building a solid program and I’m happy to help keep it growing in the right direction. It’s fun to be part of their group and hopefully we’ll have some solid runs together.”

Following Atlanta the Cup Series will race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway.

“We have put a lot of effort into elevating our program the past two years and having Cole come race with us again is great for the team,” said Rick Ware. “He has won at every level he’s competed in and is having a strong season in the Xfinity Series this year. We’re hoping to capitalize on the momentum of Cole winning two of the last three NXS races, and we look forward to getting started together in Atlanta.”
