Pato O’Ward had the fastest lap in the first IndyCar practice of the weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
One driver who would have issues was Santino Ferrucci who appeared to have a problem with the speed sensor on his car. The red flag would come out for Helio Castroneves who went off track. Romain Grosjean would go off track in turn 4 but was able to keep going with further incident.
O’Ward’s opening practice speed was 0.3623 faster than points leader Alex Palou who was second. The practice time set by O’Ward topped his pole speed from a year ago.
The IndyCar Series will race on Sunday, July 2 at 1:45 pm ET. Coverage of the 80-lap race will air on the USA Network.
