AJ Allmendinger wins Xfinity Series race at Nashville, Tennessee Lottery 250 Results

AJ Allmendinger won Saturday’s Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville Superspeedway.

The race began with a series of crashes. On the first lap of the race Kyle Sieg was forced into the middle and went up the track tapping Jeb Burton before spinning along with his brother Ryan, Justin Allgaier and Stefan Parsons both took damage in the accident. When the green flag waved for the restart it would be Austin Hill spinning in turn 3 making contact with Burton with Ryan Sieg spinning as well.

On lap 17 Chad Chastain would spin making contact with Ryan Ellis to bring out the third caution. Gibbs would win the first stage of the race ahead of pole sitter Custer.

Hill would begin the second stage at the front since he had already used a set of tires due to his early incident. On older tires Hill would get into Gibbs setting off a chain reaction which saw several collected. A spinning Gibbs would get collected by Carson Hocevar ending the race for both drivers.

Connor Mosack brought out the sixth caution after a tire went down on lap 62. The seventh caution came on lap 69 with Sheldon Creed hit Sammy Smith with Brandon Jones taking damage as a result. Chandler Smith would win the second stage. Custer, Daniel Hemric, Sam Mayer and Riley Herbst would round out the top-five.

A slowing Parker Kligerman would get spun by Kaz Grala on lap 104. Custer would challenge Chandler Smith for the lead but was unable to make the move. Green flag pit stops started with just over 40 laps to go. As the field cycled though Smith would be just ahead of Custer and AJ Allmendinger. Allmendinger would get around Smith with 30 to go but he would have to wait for Kligerman to pit before he could assume the lead. Custer followed around Smith setting his sights on the No. 10 car.

With 11 to go Allmendinger worked his way around Kligerman. Chad Chastain would spin with five laps to go bringing out another caution. Allmendinger would stay out but Custer and Kligerman, who needed fuel from not pitting, would come to pit road as the race went into overtime. A mixture of cars staying out and pitting would mixup the field with Allmendinger, Smith, Hill, Berry, Hemric and wave around car Jeb Burton all being ahead of those who pitted. The restart was chaotic with Berry getting into Smith to bring out the yellow again. On the second overtime Allmendinger pulled away from the field who could only battle amongst themselves as a crash took place at the start finish line between a group of cars who were racing midpack.

For Allmendinger the win is his 17th in the Xfinity Series to go along with two Cup Series wins.
