Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen appears well on his way to his third straight F1 championship. On Saturday his lap of 1:25.858 placed him on the front row for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Nico Hulkenberg placed his Haas machine second but was given a three place penalty for a red flag violation. That will move Fernando Alonso up to the front row. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will make up the second row with Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon in the third row.
Verstappen’s closest championship opponent is teammate Sergio Perez who starts 12th. The driver of the No. 1 Red Bull Racing machine was over 1.2 seconds faster than Hulkenberg and will be eyeing his sixth win in eight starts this season. Verstappen has won the last three races entering Sunday’s race in Montreal.
