Alexander Rossi fastest in IndyCar Friday practice at Road America

Alexander Rossi was the fastest in IndyCar’s Friday practice session at Road America.

Drivers took to the new smooth surface at the 14-turn Road America during Friday’s practice session. About one-third of the field tested over the last two weeks at the track which stretches just over four miles.

Rossi’s first time of 1:41.779 was done on primary tires as he was unable to top it on the red alternates. His McLaren teammates of Pato O’Ward and Felix Rosenqvist were fifth and eighth fastest.

David Malukas was a surprise in second for Dale Coyne Racing while all four Ganassi cars found themselves in the top ten with Alex Palou (third), Scott Dixon (fourth), Marcus Ericsson (sixth), and Marcus Armstrong (10th).

There was one close incident involving Devlin DeFrancesco and Scott Dixon.

Television and streaming coverage of IndyCar’s Grand Prix at Road America will air on USA and Peacock beginning at 1:00 pm ET on Sunday. IndyCar Radio and SiriusXM will have radio coverage.
