AJ Smith-Shawver’s first outing as a starting pitcher went as well as anyone could have hoped.
The 20-year-old Smith-Shawver allowed just two unearned runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings of work against the Nationals.
While Smith-Shawver did not get a decision but has earned himself a second start which should come against the Tigers in Detroit on Wednesday.
