The Reds have called up right-handers Ben Lively and Kevin Herget.
In order to make room for them on the roster Luis Cessa was designated for assignment while Reiver Sanmartin was placed on the 15-day injured list.
Additionally infielder Matt Reynolds has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville.

Cessa had struggled this season though seven games posting a 1-4 record and a 9.00 ERA, 2.23 WHIP, and a 11/12 K/BB ratio.
The last time Lively pitched in the major leagues was 2019 when he appeared in one game with the Royals. In his career he has appeared in 38 big league games. Across 27 minor league innings at Triple-A he had a 2.33 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP.
