Scott McLaughlin won the 13th running of the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park. The win is McLaughlin’s first of the season and the fourth in his career.
Romain Grosjean began the race on the pole but was challenged early on by Pato O’Ward and Alex Palou. As teams picked between a two stop or three stop race, Sting Ray Robb would bring out a caution after he went off track just before midway.
On the ensuing restart Scott McLaughlin would challenge Grosjean for the lead but would not be able to get around. After pit stops the two came out nearly side by side with Grosjean getting the advantage over McLaughlin who was on cold tires.
Out of push to pass, Grosjean would go wide in turn 5 with 19 laps to go which would allow McLaughlin to go around him.
