Sergio Perez won his fifth career F1 race on Sunday claiming the win in the STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix of 2023. For a moment it appeared Perez may leave Saudi Arabia as the points leader but Red Bull Racing teammate Max Verstappen was able to score the fastest lap to close the race and maintain the points lead.
Verstappen began the day in 15th after an issue in qualifying.
Fernando Alonso was scored third. Alonso’s day began with a five second penalty for starting outside of his spot on the grid. F1 officials were said to be looking at Alonso’s serving of that penalty with another penalty possible for touching the car too early. The podium is the 100th in the career of Alonso.
