MBM makes driver switch, still misses Xfinity event at Phoenix

MBM Motorsports’ struggles to start the 2023 season continued on Saturday as the No. 66 entry failed to qualify for the Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway.

Brian Weber was hoping to put the car into the field for the United Rentals 200 with his business, Last Option Bed, appearing as the sponsor. Weber managed a 29.1 in practice but the team put Timmy Hill in the car for qualifying.

While Hill ran the team’s fastest lap of the weekend with a 28.968 it was not enough to earn his way into the field. Hill’s time was not one of the fastest 33 during qualifying and the team was not in position to earn a points provisional.

Thus far this season MBM has failed to qualify for races at Daytona, Las Vegas, and now Phoenix. In their lone start at Fontana the No. 66 car finished 32nd.

The Carl Long owned team will look to rebound in Atlanta.
