The decision by the Buffalo Bills to not elevate Matt Barkley from the practice squad means that things are trending in the right direction for quarterback Josh Allen ahead of a home game against the Minnesota Vikings.

While there is a chance that Case Keenum could start for the Bills on Sunday, the decision to keep Barkley on the practice squad means that Allen will dress and likely play.

Allen is dealing with a right elbow injury and along with Keenum are the only quarterbacks on the Bills 53-man roster. He was limited in Friday’s practice after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday.

“We are literally in an hour-to-hour situation here just looking at how he’s going to progress through the day,” coach Sean McDermott said via ESPN. “And as he goes through these different tests, medically, making sure that he’s able to check the boxes in a progression to where we can see if we can proceed through the course of the day here.”

The Bills did make a few moves elevating running back Duke Johnson and cornerback Xavier Rhodes to the active roster.
