On Wednesday Williams Racing announced that driver Alex Albon would return for the 2023 season and beyond.
Albon joined the team this season after George Russell moved on to Mercedes. Thus far he has scored a 10th place finish in Australia and a ninth place run in Miami to score all of the points for Williams this season.
“I am really excited to be staying with Williams Racing for 2023 and look forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team in the remainder of this season and next year,” said Albon.
“The team has made some strong gains this year and it’s exciting to continue this journey and further develop our learnings together.”
Albon also took to social media to share the news making a lighthearted jab at the recent snafu between Alpine Racing and Oscar Piastri where the team made an announcement for 2023 which the driver then refuted.
I understand that, with my agreement, Williams Racing have put out a press release this afternoon that I am driving for them next year. This is right and I have signed a contract with Williams for 2023. I will be driving for Williams next year.
