As fans wait for news about a contract extension between Joe Gibbs Racing and Kyle Busch, the driver stated on Saturday that he had spoken with other teams for the 2023 season.

Busch has been a fixture at JGR for 15 seasons. In his NASCAR career he has 60 Cup Series wins and two championships. With the majority of his Cup Series success coming at JGR, Busch is not too worried about where he will be next season.

“I mean, it would be nice sooner than later, but honestly, it doesn’t matter how soon or how late it gets done,” Busch said before qualifying at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “Until there’s an announcement that somebody else is driving the 18 car, then I feel like I still have a seat.”

Busch did tell reports he has spoken to other teams about next season.

“The short answer is yes,” Busch said. “But you know, yeah, anything’s possible obviously. There’s all kinds of different things that can play out. It’s just a matter of what does.”
