The Washington Football Team signed cornerback D.J. Hayden to a reserve/future contract on Wednesday.
Hayden, 31, becomes part of Washington’s offseason roster and will attempt to earn a spot on the team’s 53-man roster in training camp.
A former first-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2013, Hayden has also seen time with Detroit and Jacksonville.
The Football Team initially signed Hayden in December while dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak as both William Jackson III and Kendall Fuller were out due to injury and COVID-19.
Hayden appeared on the field for four snaps in a blowout loss to Dallas in Week 16.
Last season the Football Team opened the season with six cornerbacks. Fuller, Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste are all under contract for the 2022 season.
