Pitcher Tyler Chatwood has signed a contract with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball league.
Chatwood will try to recover from a awful 2021 season which saw him post a 5.63 ERA across 32 appearances between the Blue Jays and Giants.
While financial terms of Chatwood’s deal were not disclosed, it figures to be the more profitable decision for the right hander.
The Giants removed Chatwood from their 40-man roster in August and was hard to see any major league team giving Chatwood anything more than a minor league deal.
