The 49ers have activated quarterback Nate Sudfeld from the practice squad placing him on the active roster ahead of Week 17’s game against the Texans.
With Jimmy Garoppolo listed as doubtful due to a thumb injury, the 49ers will start Trey Lance under center.
Sudfeld, 27, should be nothing more than a clipboard holder on Sunday.
It was this time last season that Sudfeld made a surprise appearance for the Eagles late in their game against the Football Team following the benching of Jalen Hurts. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was let go following the conclusion of that season.
In his career Sudfeld has appeared in parts of four games competing 25-of-37 passes for 188 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
