Bayley Currey returning to JD Motorsports for full 2022 season

Bayley Currey announced on Monday that he was returning to JD Motorsports for the upcoming 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

“I’m very excited and thankful to be back with JD Motorsports with Gary Keller in 2022,” Currey said in a team release. “[Team owner Johnny] Davis took a chance on me and gave me an opportunity late in the season last year. The relationship progressed and eventually turned into a full-time ride this year. Throughout the off-season we have been putting in a ton of work to get our fleet of cars ready to compete for 2022. Daytona [International Speedway] can’t get here soon enough!”

Last season Currey appeared in 24 Xfinity Series races, split between Mike Harmon Racing and JD Motorsports. Seven of Currey’s last eight starts in 2021 came with JD Motorsports, including his last six.

At Phoenix, driving the No. 74 Chevrolet of Mike Harmon Racing, Currey scored a career best finish of seventh. He also appeared in five Camping World Truck Series races with Niece Motorsports and made his Cup Series debut with Rick Ware Racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

No announcement of sponsors of the car number were provided. Last season JD Motorsports fielded full time entries with numbers 4, 6, 15, and 0. Two of JD Motorsports drivers from 2021 have moved on with Landon Cassill assuming the seat of the No. 10 Chevrolet at Kaulig Racing and Colby Howard joining McAnally-Hilgemann Racing in the Truck Series.
