Chase Elliott will get some extra laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on Saturday as he fills in for Michael Annett in the Xfinity Series race.
Elliott will drive the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro of JR Motorsports for Annett who is recovering from leg surgery in July for a stress fracture in his right femur.
The last time Elliott competed in the Xfinity Series was the 2019 season opener at Daytona. Elliott will start 25th in Saturday’s race.
With Annett out of action the hopes of Riley Herbst (-30) and Brandon Brown (-45) for the final playoff spot in the Xfinity Series.
