Pato O’Ward scored his third pole of the 2021 IndyCar season ahead of Saturday’s running of the Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
“I wanted to make sure this was a turning point,” O’Ward said. “We’ve had a very tough last three races and we need to get back to victory lane. A lot can happen, but we’re on the right track.”
O’Ward has claimed two race wins this season at Texas Motor Speedway and Belle Isle. His four podium finishes this season have already matched his total from a year ago when he finished fourth in the point standings.
