Homer Bailey is somehow getting $7 million after first signs of life since 2014

Homer Bailey has found a team willing to give him $7 million for the 2020 season.

The Minnesota Twins, desperate for rotation help, signed both Bailey and a rehabbing Rich Hill to close out 2019 to contracts which are worth a combined $10 million guaranteed.

Last season Bailey had his first season in which he showed signs of having a pulse since 2014 when he combined to go 13-9 with a 4.57 ERA in 31 games split between the Kansas City Royals and Oakland A’s. For that he found a way to get $7 million on top of the already $91 million he has made in his career which had prior to 2019 been spent entirely with the Cincinnati Reds.

To think that 31 starts could make up for two years made up of missed games and struggle shows just how desperate teams have gotten and how quickly they are to forget.

Bailey owns a career 80-86 record, 4.57 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP but has two career no-hitters and several bobble heads.
