Brett Anderson lands minor league deal with A’s

The expected has happened. Brett Anderson has signed a minor league deal with the Athletics.

Anderson, 30, had remained unsigned by big league teams late into spring training when rumors began circulating that the Athletics were one team that could be a suitor for his services.

Susan Slusser of the San Francico Chronicle ended all that speculation on Tuesday tweeting that a minor league deal had been reached between the team and the left hander.

The Athletics also recently signed another veteran in Trevor Cahill who will pitch in Thursday’s spring training game.

Back in 2009 Anderson began his career with the A’s but since that time the left hander has been a walking injury report.

Last season Anderson posted a dissapointing 6.34 ERA, 1.70 WHIP, and 38/21 K/BB ratio in 55 1/3 innings (13 starts) between the Cubs and Blue Jays.
