Chuck Pagano tenure with Colts nearing end, coach bids farewell

Six seasons Chuck Pagano has been the head coach of the Colts. The results, so-so.

To put it blunt. The last three seasons have undone anything Pagano had accomplished during the first three. The Colts had been mired in 8-8 land for two seasons, knowing that the absence of Andrew Luck left the team without a chance. Then 2017 came and there was no Luck at all.

Without Luck on the field the Colts have fallen to 3-12. There’s so many problems with the team from a talent makeup perspective to blame it all on Pagano but you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who thought the coach got the most out of all of his players on a weekly basis.

“Sunday’s game is our last rodeo together,” Pagano told his players on Wednesday. It’s an appropriate conclusion.

Pagano will get his pick of coordinator jobs. It would not even be a complete surprise to see him get interviewed or even hired for a head coaching gig. Tied to Ryan Gigson for much of his tenure with the team, Pagano and the Colts both need a fresh start.
