The Tigers have added some minor league depth in the form of Chad Huffman.
Huffman, 30, was once a highly thought of prospect in the Padres organization but it has been years since he last saw limited major league action with the Yankees.
Since 2011, Huffman has bounced around the minors and spent two years in Japan. His chances of contributing at the major league level appear limited at best.
Donnie Veal signs with Rangers
The baseball career of Donnie Veal continues. After appearing in five games for the Braves last season, Veal has signed a minor league deal with the Rangers.
Veal’s minor league deal is not said to include an invitation to spring training and he appears ticketed for an extended stay at the minor league level to start the season.
