The Chip Kelly era in Philadelphia can only be described as a failure. On Tuesday the Eagles fired the coach with one game remaining in his third season.
Kelly’s time with the Eagles featured high expectations of a fast pace offense but resulted only in one playoff game, a loss in his first season.
“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,” owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement released by the team on Tuesday.
The Eagles will have Pat Shurmur take over as their interim coach in Week 17’s finale against the New York Giants who feature another coach in Tom Coughlin who very well could be coaching his last game.
