The Kansas City Royals have signed veteran left hander John Lannan to a minor league deal.
Lannan, 31, spent last season pitching at Triple-A within the Colorado Rockies organization but put up an ugly 5.39 ERA across 152 innings.
Lannan is four years removed from his last bit of success at the big league level. Since going 10-14 with a 3.70 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP with the Washington Nationals in 2011. Since that time he has played in 25 games between the Nationals, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets with a 5.35 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP.
