The Washington Redskins have picked up the 2016 option on quarterback Robert Griffin III.
After a up and down year under head coach Jay Gruden, it appears the Redskins are ready to start their offseason programs with Griffin on top of their depth chart.
Griffin will earn $3.27 million this season and then earn $16.2 million in 2016 under his fifth-year option which was exercised on Monday.

With ineffectiveness and ankle injuries bothering him, Griffin played in nine games last season throwing for 1,694 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions. After winning the Heisman trophy at Baylor Griffin has struggled to stay healthy following a strong 2012 rookie season.
