Reunion between Browns and Brian Hoyer becoming more likely

For the first half of the season the Browns were led by journeyman Brian Hoyer and it appeared the team could have been headed to the playoffs. Then the wheels fell off and Johnny Manziel was given a chance to start. After an injury Hoyer returned to start the seasons final game playing poorly in the teams fifth straight loss to end the season.

For much the season the talk was about whether or not the Browns should give Hoyer a new deal. After waiting out the downfull, the team is in a good position to bring him back for the 2015 season at a lower cost.

A free agent, it is assumed that Hoyer will be given plenty of offers by NFL teams to be a backup. While in Cleveland he would theoretically have a chance to start as many within the organization are still unsure of last year’s first round pick Johnny Manziel.

Of course would Hoyer want to put himself though that mess again. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan – who got far more out of Hoyer than anyone expected – left for the same job with the Falcons.
