Fans of the Colts will not have to hear Trent Richardson’s name called during the AFC Championship game.
The first round bust will miss the AFC Championship game after being a healthy scratch last week. He did not travel with the Colts due to what has been termed “personal reasons” but those reasons are probably more of the sour grape variety after he has fallen behind Dan Herron and Zurlon Tipton on the depth chart.
For weeks the Colts and head coach Chuck Pagano tried to say that Richardson was still part of the game plan even getting him unnecessary touches but it looks like everyone in the organization now realizes trading for him was a mistake.
Richardson has a fully guaranteed $3.2 million salary next season but the Colts may just choose to cut him anyway.
In 15 regular season games this season Richardson totaled 519 yards on 159 carries finding the endzone three times. He added 27 receptions for 229 yards.
