The Blue Jays claimed left handed pitcher Scott Barnes off waivers from the Rangers.
Barnes, 27, has pitched just 27 2/3 innings at the big league level posting a 5.20 ERA. He will be looked at as a bullpen option in spring training but could just as well be ticketed for Triple-A.
No one claimed Fernando Rodriguez and the A’s have sent him outright to Triple-A.
Rodriguez was booted off the A’s 40-man roster to make room for Eury de la Rosa. He could still resurface as a relief option for the A’s next season after posting a 1.97 ERA to go with 53 strikeouts in 45 innings at Triple-A last year.
