It seems hard to believe but Trevor Bayne has never driven a Roush Fenway Racing car at the Sprint Cup Series level. That will change this weekend as he gets behind the wheel of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion for the running of the Bank of American 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“I am very excited to be behind the wheel of the #6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion this weekend,” said Bayne. “The No. 6 is such a legendary number to both the sport and this company. To be able to say that I am one of a handful of drivers to race this number in the Cup series is a huge honor. I can’t wait to get to Charlotte.”
Much like when he drove for the Wood Brothers, Bayne is not guaranteed a spot in the field for Saturday’s race and will have to qualify based on time.
Bob Osbrone, an 18-race winning crew chief, will return to the pit box at RFR racing to guide Bayne’s efforts on Saturday night.
