Those calling for Joe Nathan to be pulled from the closers job in Detroit got a little louder on Tuesday night as the 39-year-old nearly blew another save.
Nathan retired the first two batters in the bottom of the 11th inning before giving up a single, a walk and an RBI single before retiring Sean Rodriguez via strikeout.
Nathan blew a save on Aug. 9 at Toronto but has just one other blown save since the end of May. In 49 games this season Nathan owns a 5.28 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP to go with his 26 saves.
