The Pittsburgh Steelers have given center Maurike Pouncey a new five-year contract.
Pouncey will make north of $44 million over the course of the new deal. Counting the one year left on his rookie contract Pouncey will make $48 million over the next six seasons.
The Steelers will pay Pouncey a $13 million signing bonus.
ProFootballTalks’s Mike Florio reports that “Pouncey will pocket $17.75 million by March of next year. He’ll have $23 million earned by March of 2016, and $26.5 million through the first three years.”
With the deal Pouncey becomes the NFL’s highest paid center. Previously the Cleveland Browns gave center Alex Mack a five-year deal worth $42 million.
