Aroldis Chapman fells great after first bullpen session

A comebacker to the head on March 19 has kept Aroldis Chapman off the field for the Cincinnati Reds. On Monday he returned to the mound to throw his first bullpen session since the incident.

In the session Chapman threw 25 pitches and reportedly felt “great” afterwards.

The Reds figure to continue to bring Chapman along slowly. Recently they activated Jonathan Broxton and figure to get Sean Marshall back by this weekend.

Chapman had surgery to repair fractures in his left eye and nose.

A two time All-Star, Chapman has turned into one of baseball’s best closers over hte past two seasons. During that span he has appeared in 136 games, recorded 76 saves and posted a 2.00 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP.
