The Cleveland Indians have signed outfielder Nyjer Morgan to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Morgan spent the 2013 season in Japan hitting .294/.361/.434 with 11 homers, 50 RBI and three stolen bases in 108 games last season with the Yokohama DeNa BayStars of Japan’s Central League.
With the Indians loaded with left-handed hitting options it’s no certainty that Morgan will make the Indians roster for Opening Day.
During six big league seasons Morgan owns a .280/.341/.364 with 11 home runs and 130 RBI in 583 games. Morgan is capable of playing playing all three outfield positions and has spent a large part of his career in center field.
