Aaron Rodgers denied that there were plans to shut him down.

Speaking to reporters Rodgers said he was disappointed that he was not cleared for a return to the field but said he planned on returning this season.

“At this point, it’s really about the risk of going back out there,” Rodgers said on his weekly radio show. “I can’t say this morning was the greatest news because I was hoping for full clearance to get back out there and we didn’t get that. It’s Tuesday so we have a good amount of time before the game.”

Rodgers seemed to squelch the thought that the Packers would shut down their franchise quarterback to avoid an injury.

“If I’m healthy, I want to be on the field,” Rodgers said. “This is my team. … I care about it too much. Put too much into this. Don’t want to miss opportunities.”

Matt Flynn will take the starters snaps in practice this week and would appear set to start his second straight game.

Since Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone the Packers have gone 0-4-1.
