The Washington Nationals acquired starting pitcher Doug Fister from the Detroit Lions for a trio of players.

Fister, 29, will fill the rotation spot vacated by the departure of Dan Haren. He posted a 14-9 record, 3.67 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP in 33 games for the Tigers in 2013.

In return for Fister the Nationals gave  up infielder Steve Lombardozzi, and a pair of left handed pitchers in Ian Krol and Robbie Ray.
