Brad Ausmus is the third candidate known to have interviewed for the managerial vacancy in Detroit.
With Jim Leyland stepping down as the manager of the Tigers last week, the team has been interviewing candidates to replace him. Hitting coach Lloyd McClendon and Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach have already interviewed for the position.
“I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with Dave and his staff,” Ausmus told MLive.com via text message. “I enjoyed the discussion and thought it went well.”
Ausmus has been working as a special assistant to San Diego Padres general manager Josh Byrnes. While Ausmus has not managed at any level he was also interviewed for the managerial vacany in Washington.
The Tigers will also interview Padres third base coach Rick Renteria.
