Jim Leyland stepping down as Tigers manager

Jim Leyland is stepping down as the manager of the Detroit Tigers.

Leyland, 68, told the team he was stepping down after the Tigers’ Game 6 loss to the Boston Red Sox in the AL Championship Series, Fox Sports reported.

During Leyland’s eight seasons the Tigers compiled a 700-597 record and won the NL Central the last three seasons. The Tigers made two trips to the World Series.
