Jeff Burton is close to a deal that will allow the 46-year-old driver to continue racing at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series level in 2014.

“I actually have a lot of clarity, I just can’t talk about it just yet,” Burton said during a test session at Martinsville on Tuesday. “I can almost talk about it, but I just can’t. I don’t know when I’ll be able to — it’s going to be a couple of weeks. A lot of stuff happened toward the end of last week and into (Monday). So yeah, it’s getting real clear to me what’s going to be going on. But I’m just not at the liberty to discuss it right now.”

Burton will leave Richard Childress Racing at the end of this season as Ryan Newman will assume the seat of the No. 31 Chevrolet.

There are a few available seats for 2014 but none that match the profile of Burton’s current ride with RCR. Two available seats for 2014 are the No. 78 at Furniture Row and the No. 30 car at Swan Racing.
